The Faces of Modern Greek Wine: Six Producers Redefining Greek Wine
Greek wine is undergoing a remarkable transformation.
Across the country, a new generation of winemakers is proving that Greece is one of the world's most exciting wine-producing nations—not by copying international styles, but by celebrating what makes it unique. Indigenous grape varieties, diverse terroirs and thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking are creating wines with authenticity, personality and a true sense of place.
At Pale Ruby Wine, we work exclusively with independent Greek producers who share this philosophy. Rather than focusing on volume, they prioritise quality, sustainability and the character of their vineyards.
Here are the six wineries shaping our portfolio and helping redefine modern Greek wine.
Acritas Wines – Heroic Mountain Viticulture on Samos
Based on the mountainous island of Samos, Acritas Wines is dedicated to showcasing the remarkable potential of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains beyond the island's famous sweet wines.
Working with old terraced vineyards farmed using regenerative organic principles, founders Konstantinos Tellis and Stella Papadimitriou produce small-batch wines that express altitude, sea breezes and the island's unique terroir.
Their wines reveal a mineral, saline and complex side of Muscat that surprises even experienced wine lovers.

Haritatos Estate – Regenerative Winegrowing on Kefalonia
For more than 160 years, the Haritatos family has cultivated vines on the Ionian island of Kefalonia.
Today, the estate combines regenerative viticulture with minimal intervention to produce elegant wines from indigenous grape varieties including Vostilidi, Mavrodaphne and Muscat.
From fresh island whites to chilled reds and gastronomic rosés, every wine reflects the biodiversity and unique landscape of Kefalonia.

Papadopoulos Viticulture – Natural Wines from Mount Olympus
High on the slopes of Mount Olympus, Papadopoulos Viticulture is helping revive the historic vineyards of Rapsani PDO.
Working with old bush vines and local growers, brothers Dimitris and Nikos Papadopoulos produce minimal-intervention wines fermented with indigenous yeasts and crafted with an uncompromising focus on terroir.
Their wines express the freshness, herbs and mountain character that make Rapsani one of Greece's most distinctive wine regions.

Milia Riza – Greece's Sparkling Wine Specialists
Located in Nemea, Milia Riza is Greece's first and only winery dedicated exclusively to premium sparkling wine.
Founders Nancy Mazou and Stefano Stante combine the traditional method with extended lees ageing to create elegant sparkling wines that reveal a completely different side of Agiorgitiko, Greece's flagship red grape.
Their wines demonstrate that Greece is capable of producing sparkling wines with finesse, complexity and international appeal.

The Knack Project – The New Wave of Greek Natural Wine
Based in Attica, The Knack Project represents one of the most exciting voices in modern Greek low-intervention winemaking.
Founder Christos Koulouriotis works with old family vineyards and indigenous grape varieties, producing tiny quantities of wines that are fermented with wild yeasts, bottled with minimal sulphur and made without fining or filtration.
From orange wines and chilled reds to pét-nats and textured whites, every bottle reflects creativity while remaining firmly rooted in Greek vineyards.
