It’s Pinot Noir Day! Here at Pale Ruby Wine, we have a special fondness for this exquisite grape variety—so much so that we were named after its signature pale ruby colour. To celebrate, we’re embracing our Valle d’Aosta theme by showcasing some of the finest examples of Pinot Nero that this unique and beautiful wine region has to offer.

🍇 Les Crêtes 2021 Pinot Nero Revei
“Revei,” meaning “time” in the local dialect called “patois”, reflects the extra time this wine is given in the vineyard and winery. The grapes are picked 10 days later than those for the standard range Pinot Nero and matured in large oak barrels for 12 months. This wine, which includes around 50% whole bunches, exhibits intensely concentrated fruit aromas, leaning towards red plum and strawberry jam, with emerging tertiary aromas of forest floor and tobacco, alongside gentle oak notes of clove.
🍇 Ottin 2020 L’Emerico Pinot Noir
Named after the winemaker Elio Ottin’s father Emerico, who was the first Ottin to make Pinot Noir, this wine was made with grapes from their best vineyard. Wild-fermented and matured for 20 months in French barriques, followed by 36 months of bottle ageing, it offers a great mouthfeel and pronounced aromas of violet, geranium and rose, complementing notes of strawberry, plum and vanilla.
🍇 Château Feuillet 2023 Pinot Nero
Featured as one of Trebicchieri's “Best Pinot Neros of Italy under €20” for its 2022 vintage, this elegant wine was fermented and matured in steel and displays aromas of violet, strawberry and red plum.
🍇 La Vrille 2017 Pinot Noir
This is a very refined Pinot Noir and an all-time favourite. Pronounced aromas of geranium, violet, strawberry, nutmeg and clove give way to tertiary notes of earth. It has matured in large oak barrels for 15 months, giving it great structure and silky tannins.
