Pale Ruby Wine Enters a New Chapter as a Specialist Importer of Greek Wine

For the past few years, Pale Ruby Wine has been dedicated to sharing the story of Greek wine through tastings, education and consultancy. Today, we're proud to begin a new chapter.

Pale Ruby Wine is now a specialist importer of carefully curated Greek wines, working directly with small, quality-focused producers across Greece. Our mission is simple: to showcase the incredible diversity of Greece's indigenous grape varieties and introduce UK drinkers to wines with a genuine sense of place.

Rather than building a large catalogue, we've chosen to work with a small number of producers whose philosophies align with our own. Every winery in our portfolio farms with respect for the land, produces wines in limited quantities, and focuses on expressing the unique character of its vineyards.

Why Greek Wine?

Greece is home to more than 300 indigenous grape varieties, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. From the mineral freshness of Assyrtiko to the elegance of Agiorgitiko and the complexity of Xinomavro, Greek wine offers remarkable diversity while remaining one of the wine world's best-kept secrets.

Our focus is exclusively on indigenous varieties because they tell the story of Greece's landscapes, history, and culture far better than international grapes ever could.

Our Producers

Milia Riza – Nemea

Milia Riza is Greece's only winery dedicated exclusively to premium sparkling wine. Founded by Nancy Mazou and Stefano Stante, the estate combines organic viticulture with the traditional method to produce elegant sparkling wines from Agiorgitiko and other carefully selected varieties. Their wines demonstrate that Nemea can produce world-class sparkling wine with precision, freshness, and remarkable ageing potential.

The Knack Project – Attica

Christos Koulouriotis DipWSET founded The Knack Project to explore the possibilities of minimal intervention winemaking in Attica. Working with old family vineyards around Megara, spontaneous fermentations and minimal sulphur allow indigenous varieties to express themselves honestly, resulting in vibrant, textured natural wines that capture the rugged landscape of the Geraneia Mountains.

Haritatos Estate – Kefalonia

For generations, the Haritatos family has farmed regeneratively on the island of Kefalonia. Today, siblings Ioanna, Haritos, and Konstantinos continue that tradition, producing small quantities of wines from indigenous varieties including Vostilidi, Mavrodaphne, and Muscat. Dry farming, biodiversity, and meticulous handwork define every vineyard.

Acritas Wines – Samos

Acritas Wines celebrates the dramatic mountain vineyards of Samos. Konstantinos Tellis and Stella Papadimitriou work with old Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains vines using regenerative organic principles to produce wines that challenge expectations. Their White Muscat is mineral, saline, and terroir-driven, offering an entirely new perspective on one of Greece's most famous grape varieties.

Papadopoulos Viticulture – Rapsani

On the slopes of Mount Olympus, brothers Dimitris and Nikos Papadopoulos are reviving historic vineyards in the PDO of Rapsani. Their wines are produced with minimal intervention from the traditional blend of Xinomavro, Krassato, and Stavroto, working alongside experienced local growers whose families have farmed these vineyards for generations.

Zacharias Winery – Nemea

Founded in 1962, Zacharias Winery is one of the oldest family-run estates in Nemea. Led by Elias Zacharias since 1974, the winery produces elegant, terroir-driven wines from sustainably farmed vineyards across the Nemea PDO. Working with indigenous varieties including Agiorgitiko, Kidonitsa, and Sklava, the philosophy is one of allowing the region's limestone soils, altitude, and balanced climate to shine through in every bottle.

Beyond Importing

Pale Ruby Wine is more than an importer.

We work with restaurants to build distinctive Greek wine lists, organise public and private tastings, deliver educational events, and provide consultancy for businesses looking to explore the diversity of Greek wine.

Whether you're discovering indigenous Greek grapes for the first time or searching for small-production wines unavailable elsewhere in the UK, our aim is the same: to connect people with producers who make wines of authenticity, character, and place.

We believe Greek wine deserves to be recognised alongside the world's great wine regions. Through our carefully selected producers and direct relationships, we're proud to help tell that story—one bottle at a time.
